56 Tons of Waste Removed from Vallarta Beaches During Rainy Season

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Responding swiftly to the seasonal rains, the municipal government’s dedicated cleanup crews successfully removed over 56 tons of natural debris and waste from Puerto Vallarta beaches, ensuring the shoreline remained inviting and pristine for the community and visitors.

Throughout the rainy season, the Directorate of Efficient Services, strongly supported by Mayor Luis Munguía, significantly ramped up the city’s Clean Beaches Program, responding to the natural accumulation of debris, leaves, and trash washed downstream and ashore by heavy rains. Operational staff intensified their efforts to ensure the coastal environment was quickly restored to its usual safe and accessible standard.

Across targeted cleaning operations – including popular beaches like Olas Altas, Mona Desnuda, Playa del Holi, and Playa de Oro – the brigades collected a substantial amount of material. In addition to the 56 tons of debris and leaves, nearly 400 kilograms of general garbage and 5 kilograms of glass were carefully removed.

The City Council’s Free, Clean, and Certified Beaches Commission also played an essential role in sustaining these standards, helping maintain the beaches in good condition despite the challenges brought by the heavy rains. This extensive work is a complement to the continuous, daily efforts carried out by cleanup teams who regularly patrol all municipal beaches to collect waste and maintain cleanliness year-round.

The Municipal Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting natural spaces, noting that continued collaboration among city teams ensures cleaner beaches and a healthier environment for residents and visitors.
