June 2026 News from PuRR Project Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, México – The latest news from PuRR Project, a non-profit, no-kill feline shelter just north of Puerto Vallarta that provides homeless cats and kittens a recuperative stay with the ultimate goal of adopting them out to loving homes sterilized, vaccinated and disease free.

SHELTER UPDATE

We set a new record…but not the kind we like…when volunteers discovered 29 new kittens left outside the fence! It was crazy trying to catch them all (and one mama cat got away!) and then figure out siblings and sex and names and places to put them. Six had to be bottle fed so went home with a foster. Our volunteers and vet certainly went above the call of duty that day! The number of resident kitties at PuRR Project continues to increase. What we need is the number of adoptions to grow exponentially.

Weather continues to be very HOT and humid with no rain in sight. We look forward to the rainy season and dread it at the same time!

ADOPTIONS

Adoptions have been slow so we are thankful for each and every one! The weekend PetCo Adoption Center continues to be our primary source of adoptions so be sure to visit us there when you are ready to give a Forever Home to one of our sweet kitties!

VIRTUAL ADOPTIONS

Choosing presents for birthdays can be complicated. But there is an easy solution that does more than bring joy to givers and recipients… the Virtual Adoption of a PuRR Project cat that is unlikely to be adopted! YOU can “Virtually Adopt” one of these felines for yourself or as a gift to a feline-loving friend for only $120 a year and help us continue to give these adult cats a safe home for life. You can learn how to virtually adopt and also meet all the candidates (like Elsa) by going to our website.

RANCH HIGHLIGHTS: LINDA’S CASITA

Six years ago we announced the completed renovation of a large building on the shelter property. Accomplished with funding from Fred Marshall in tribute to his wife, who died the previous year, Linda’s Casita became a much-needed place to house many of the kittens that we care for, vaccinate, and spay/neuter so that they can be adopted by loving families. The Marshalls were longtime supporters of PuRR Project, and Fred played a key role in our obtaining 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.

GRACIAS! THANKS! MERCI! DANKE! ARIGATO!

Marc Serrao and Andy offered to meet us at COSTCO where they proceeded to purchase almost two weeks worth of food, litter and other supplies for the shelter!

Casa Isabel’s annual “Stay-Cation” promotion in May benefited PuRR Project and other animal charities! Generous donations from Trisha Aljoe, Lisa Mechele and Steve Stowell also were greatly appreciated!!

As always, we send a huge Thank You to those monthly donors who are so essential to our success: The McCullough Family Gift Fund, Gary Phillips, Sharon & Ken Rose, Terri & Gray Levy, Joanne Bryla, Trisha Aljoe, Pat & Sandy Glenn, Catherine Goglia & Jim Shoemaker, Karen & Walt Trolson, Shari Stone-Ulrich, Robert Weed, Jerry Petrizzo, Heidi Benedict, Timothy Oleno, Larry Sherwood, Mary & Bob Fitzgerald, David Flannery, Elizabeth Fuerherm, Janice North and Katie Hannasch.
