Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Since the movie ‘Coco’ is set in Mexico during the country’s Día de los Muertos celebrations, Teatro Vallarta will present Él Show de la Familia COCO, a theatrical production in two acts based on the Academy Award-winning Disney Studios film on Sunday, November 3, at 6:30 pm.
Produced by LOGA Entretenimiento, COCO, The Family Show is full of the colors, music and images that evoke the rich Mexican traditions, culture and folklore of a national holiday that honors departed loved ones – El Día de Los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) – through spectacular characterizations and live singing performances.
The story begins in the town of “Santa Cecilia” a fictional place where the greatest musicians in the history of our country are supposed to have been born. Miguel is a boy who dreams of being a musician, but his family forbids it because his great-great-grandfather was a musician who abandoned them to pursue a singing career, and they want to force Miguel to be a shoemaker, like all of his family members.
By strange accident, Miguel enters the Land of the Dead, where he can only leave if a deceased relative grants him blessing, but his great-grandmother, Coco, refuses to let him return to the Land of the Living unless he promises not to become a musician. Because of that, Miguel runs away from her and starts looking for his great-great-grandfather.
Throughout his travels, Miguel is accompanied by his faithful dog, Dante, together they will take us on a journey of discovery through the magical world that our dearly departed inhabit, where they teach us, above all, that the most important thing is realizing your dreams and the undying love that unites families.
