Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Suicide is a serious public health problem among all age groups. Among youth it exacts an enormous toll due to the significant years of potential life lost. In 2017, there were more than 6,200 suicide deaths among adolescents and young adults ages 15-24, making it the second-leading cause of death for that age group.
According to state statistics, suicide is on the rise among young people in Jalisco, so the city of Puerto Vallarta is hosting the 7th edition of “Vida Fest” (Life Fest) this weekend.
Set to take place November 15 and 16 at the Los Arcos amphitheater on the Malecón, the festival is a non-profit event which seeks to generate social awareness about the problem of suicide through cultural activities such as circus, street theater, clown art, music, painting workshops and many other free activities.
The festival will include shows by street performers and circus artists such as Danzirco, Circo Teatro Azul, Pata de Perro, All Staar Circus, La Imprenta and Dadito among others.
Make plans now to come out to Los Arcos del Malecón this weekend for the 7th annual “Vida Fest,” which not only raises awareness about such an important issue as teen suicide, but also provides lots of free family-friendly fun!
