Act2PV is delighted to host the fabulous David Duvall in a special once-a-month concert series that focuses on popular composers and songwriting teams who contributed to The Great American Songbook! This month, Duvall will present a show featuring the songs of singer/songwriters, The Gershwin Brothers! Together they created such timeless hits as They Can’t Take That Away From Me, A Foggy Day, Embraceable You, and Fascinating Rhythm, plus hundreds more. On his own, George composed Rhapsody in Blue, and with DuBose Heywood, they wrote Porgy and Bess. His special guests this month are Bobbi Goddard on some extraordinary vocals, Zahid Cid Rivera, Cid bringing some brilliant guitar, Gene Berube and Robert M. Ryan singing their hearts out – all backed by Danny Lopez Arganis on bass and Dannyju Lopez on drums. Each of his concerts is a delightful afternoon of music, both familiar and rarely heard.
Before moving to Puerto Vallarta, Duvall performed in countless nightclubs and theaters across the US, and has been described as “a gifted story-teller in both song and backstage stories,” with a “smooth, rich voice,” who is “among the great interpreters of Cole Porter’s lyric.” After 45 years of studying/arranging/singing the works of these iconic writers, Duvall has gained an incredible insight into this type of music. His unique ability to share stories and anecdotes about the writers and their creations is reminiscent of Bobby Short’s renowned performances at New York City’s Cafe Carlyle. Do you want to be onstage?
Are you an actor? Can you sing? Can you dance? Do you have a show you’d like to present? Act2PV is looking for people who would like to be a part of Act2PV’s 2024/2025 season. We will be auditioning for several different Broadway musicals, as well as some stage plays, and we are always looking for experienced dancers. So, if you’d like to “show us your stuff,” come on Saturday or Sunday, April 13 or 14 and bring a USB with the music tracks for two songs that show off your voice. Dress comfortably and have a great time!
We are also looking for new shows for next season. If you would like to present a show at Act2PV, you are invited to audition at this time, too.
