Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – Jalisco’s athletic delegation solidifies its lead at the 2026 CONADE National Olympics, officially surpassing the 200-gold medal mark and strengthening its pursuit of a 25th consecutive national title. This achievement highlights a quarter-century of sports leadership in Mexico, as the state currently leads the standings with a remarkable 204 gold, 154 silver, and 132 bronze medals.
The momentum reached a peak in Guanajuato when swimmer Fernanda García secured the delegation’s 200th gold medal in the 50-meter freestyle. García, who has earned eight gold medals individually, noted that these results stem from the collective dedication of all her teammates. Her success was bolstered by fellow swimmers Diego Ceja and Adán Zamora, contributing to a swimming total of 29 medals with one day of competition remaining in the pool.
Beyond the water, Jalisco’s shooting sports team continues to define excellence. By securing the national title for the 23rd consecutive year, the shooting squad concluded its participation with 67 total medals, 30 of which were gold. This legacy of precision has been a cornerstone of the state’s athletic program since 1996, providing a reliable foundation for the overall medal count.
The 2026 Games, which serve as the premier development platform for Mexico’s future international stars, feature 51 different sports hosted across multiple states, including Jalisco, Guanajuato, Tlaxcala, Nayarit, San Luis Potosí, and Yucatán. Jalisco’s dominance is visible across a wide array of these disciplines; the squash team recently secured 20 medals, while field hockey athletes earned top honors in both the Under-12 and Under-15 categories.
As the competition moves toward its conclusion in early June, Jalisco holds a significant lead over its closest competitors. Nuevo León currently occupies second place with 102 gold medals, followed by Baja California with 50.
With athletes already advancing to the semifinals in basketball and boxing, the delegation appears well-positioned to finalize its quest for a 25th straight championship, proving that consistent effort and structured development lead to unprecedented success on the national stage.
