San Sebastián del Oeste Gains New Patrol for Public Safety

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The mountain town of San Sebastián del Oeste has officially expanded its public safety resources following the arrival of a new, fully equipped patrol vehicle. This delivery, facilitated by the State Council of Public Security (CESP), occurred during the successful conclusion of “Mission Smile,” a statewide initiative that recently distributed more than 30,000 toys to children across Jalisco.

The new pickup truck represents a strategic investment of 690,000 pesos. These funds were made available through careful management and savings from federal support allocated in 2025. By adding this unit to the local fleet, the municipality aims to increase the presence of officers in the community, ensuring that residents and visitors alike feel supported and secure.

Beyond the technical addition of the vehicle, the event highlighted the human side of law enforcement. Roberto Alarcón Estrada, the General Strategic Coordinator of Security, joined Executive Secretary Lorena López Guízar to mark the end of the “Mission Smile” campaign.

In its second year, this program has reached all 125 municipalities in the state, utilizing the delivery of toys as a way to build meaningful bridges between police departments and the youngest members of society.

This strategy is designed to do more than just distribute gifts; it creates opportunities for positive interaction and trust-building. By engaging children through recreational activities and community dynamics, the initiative helps to humanize the work of police officers. These efforts contribute to a stronger social fabric, fostering a culture of peace and cooperation that starts at an early age.

The results of this year’s mission reflect a growing commitment to a preventive and empathetic security model. By prioritizing social proximity and inter-institutional coordination, the State Council reaffirms that children are a fundamental pillar of community life.

Moving forward, the integration of better equipment and community-focused programs like “Mission Smile” will continue to serve as the foundation for a safer and more harmonious environment throughout the region.
