Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – Jalisco has reaffirmed its status as a cornerstone of the Mexican economy by reporting significant growth in formal employment for April.
According to the latest data from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), the state successfully added 11,264 new formal positions in a single month. This achievement places Jalisco third in the country for formal job creation, contributing nearly half of the 23,923 total jobs generated nationwide during that period.
The steady increase in employment highlights a robust collaboration between the state government, private enterprises, and academic institutions. Cindy Blanco Ochoa, the Secretary of Economic Development, noted that these figures are the result of a unified strategy designed to improve regional competitiveness and expand professional opportunities for residents. By fostering an environment where businesses can thrive, the state ensures that more citizens gain access to essential health services and legal labor benefits provided through social security.
Beyond monthly growth, Jalisco maintains a dominant presence in the national labor market. It currently holds the second-highest number of formal employees in Mexico, representing 9.1 percent of the country’s total insured workforce. With more than 2,072,000 affiliated workers, the state continues to serve as a reliable engine for national prosperity and social stability.
This consistent performance underscores Jalisco’s role as a leading destination for investment and a vital hub for long-term economic development.
