Upcoming Sporting Events

This Spring, Puerto Vallarta is hosting an array of exciting athletic events, promising an adrenaline-packed experience for sports enthusiasts and spectators alike – from recreational races to soccer matches and more.

From May 23-27, Puerto Vallarta will host 180 of Mexico’s best sailors for the 2024 Games of the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (CONADE). The state of Jalisco is the main venue for the games, and Puerto Vallarta has been designated as sub-host due to the destination’s optimal conditions and environment for sailing.

On June 29 an exciting new sports event is coming to Puerto Vallarta. For the first time, the city will host I Run with Pride Puerto Vallarta, founded on the principle of greater inclusion for sexually diverse people in sports. Over 1,000 runners are expected to participate spanning across the categories of Kids, Youth, Open, Senior and Adapted Sports.

The fun doesn’t stop there. Puerto Vallarta hosts a variety of events throughout the season:

Upcoming Festivals and Celebrations

From May 22-26, Vallarta Pride explodes with a week of parades, parties, and cultural events celebrating LGBTQ+ unity. Reflecting Puerto Vallarta’s recent recognition as the “Beach Destination of the Year” at the LGBTQ+ Travel Awards Mexico 2023, the “Sun & the Beach” theme permeates the festivities. Free events like The Vallarta Pride parade, beach party, and art exhibition complement ticketed options such as the Pride Sun Festival and the Pink Dinner, benefiting the local LGBTQ+ community.

From May 15-June 10, culinary delights take the spotlight during Restaurant Week. Indulge in specially crafted three-course menus from the city’s top restaurants, at prices ranging from US$20-$35 (excluding drinks and tips). Participating restaurants include Bravos, Di Vino Dante, Zumo, and more.

May 17-June 2 brings the ultimate family fiesta as the Fiestas de Mayo Puerto Vallarta Festival returns to the Explanada Vallarta Arena, located near the Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center. With live music from top performers in regional Mexican, pop, and Ranchera genres, and attractions, rides, craft fairs, and food stands showcasing flavors from Jalisco and neighboring regions, the festival promises non-stop excitement for all ages.

And these are only a few of the exciting things you can do in Puerto Vallarta this Spring. Nestled between the rugged Sierra Madre Mountains and Banderas Bay on Mexico’s balmy Pacific coast, Puerto Vallarta is the quintessential Mexican beach destination. Authentic culture can be discovered around every corner, from the charming cobblestone streets downtown to the art-filled Malecon, and the lively Romantic Zone. Puerto Vallarta’s picturesque beaches and aquatic activities lure travelers, and its welcoming hospitality, top-notch gastronomy, and outdoor adventures keep them coming back time and time again.
